Size guide

Our goal at WaterWay Fins is to make your online buying experience as simple as we can. Measuring your feet and comparing them to the size chart below is the easiest way to ensure that you get the correct size. To measure your feet precisely, please follow these four easy steps:

Two ways we size your fins

Made-to-order fins and monofins

Pick your size on the product page using the chart below. After you order, we ask for a tracing of your feet, and your foot pockets are made to that tracing.

Lifesaving Speed, Lifesaving Carbon Speed, Lifesaving Tornado, Lifesaving Tornado Carbon, Glide and Tornado monofins.

Ready-to-ship fins

Measure your feet with the four steps below and pick your size from the chart.

Najade, Powerfins and Murena. Powerfins run small, so choose one size up.

How to measure your feet

Step 1

Step 1

All you need is a piece of paper, a pen, and a ruler to measure your feet from heel to toe.

Step 2

Step 2

Put the paper up against a wall on the ground. Place the foot with the heel up against the wall on the piece of paper.

Step 3

Step 3

On the paper, indicate the longest portion of the foot. Since it is typical for feet to differ in length, repeat for both feet.

Step 4

Step 4

Take a measurement of the distance and compare it to the following size chart. When deciding which size to order, use the length of your longest foot.

How to trace your feet

For made-to-order models we need a tracing of each foot. It takes two minutes:

  1. 1Stand up straight on a sheet of paper. Don't sit: your weight changes the size of your foot.
  2. 2Trace around your foot with a pen or pencil. Repeat for the other foot.
  3. 3Measure the drawing on the paper, not your foot. Measuring the foot itself gives the wrong size.

You send the tracing after checkout: right away on the order confirmation page, or later from the link in your order email.

Choosing blade stiffness

Underwater rugby and hockey

  • Stiffness 1 (soft): rarely chosen and not really recommended.
  • Stiffness 2 (medium): the right choice for most athletes.
  • Stiffness 3 (hard): only for heavier athletes in very good shape and form.

Rugby and hockey fins come in stiffness 1, 2 and 3 only.

Tornado or Glide monofin?

  • Tornado: a stiffer foot-pocket platform and a reactive kick, built for sprint distances.
  • Glide: softer pockets and energy-saving swimming, built for long distances and strong finishes.

What if they don't fit?

Made-to-order foot pockets that are too short or too long can be adjusted.

If the pockets are too wide or too narrow, or the stiffness is wrong, we can exchange the product, but only in new, unscratched and unused condition.

In every case, the return and the new shipping are paid by the customer, so measuring carefully saves you money.

Good to know: fins made to your measurements count as custom-made under EU consumer law, so they can’t be returned or exchanged as standard. We look at every fit issue individually and always try to fix it first, but an exchange may be declined depending on the case. Measuring carefully with the steps above is the surest way to a perfect fit.
